Documentation / KVM Virtual Servers
Rescue Mode, ISOs and VNC
All three are on a VPS's Boot and rescue tab, for admins and for the VPS's client.
Rescue mode
Rescue mode starts a separate rescue system with the VPS's own disk attached as /dev/vdb, to repair a VPS that no longer boots or to reset a lost password. It uses the same IP: log in over SSH or the console as root with the rescue password (enter one, or leave it blank to generate one).
mount /dev/vdb1 /mnt
Leave rescue mode starts the VPS from its own disk again. Nothing on its disk changes unless you change it. Backups, restores and most changes wait until the VPS leaves rescue mode.
ISOs
Add installer or tool ISOs under VPS, ISOs by their download address; every client can use them. Clients can also add up to five ISOs of their own.
On the Boot and rescue tab, choose an ISO and Mount ISO. Tick Boot from it to start from the ISO; the VPS restarts. Switch back to Boot from disk, or Eject the ISO, when you're done. An ISO downloads to the hypervisor the first time a VPS there uses it.
VNC
The Console button opens the VPS's screen in the browser. To use your own VNC app instead, an admin can Open direct VNC: the tab then shows the address, port and password. New VNC password changes it straight away; opening or closing direct VNC restarts a running VPS.
